Isolated tribe spotted in Brazil

The photos are being used to prove the tribe's existence

One of South America's few remaining uncontacted indigenous tribes has been spotted and photographed on the border between Brazil and Peru.

The Brazilian government says it took the images to prove the tribe exists and help protect its land.

The pictures, taken from an aeroplane, show red-painted tribe members brandishing bows and arrows.

For some reason I find this really interesting, I mean these people have had no contact with the outside world and have their own beliefs and way of life, untouched by fuel prices or industrialisation. They are so primative, they attempted to shot down the plane with spears and arrows!

I want my own tribe, it would be like some kind of strategy game or something and I could drop in different items and see how they react and use them, based on the fact that they have no idea what they are for.

Am I the only person to think that they look like Urak Hai from lord of the rings?:p

What must they have thought when they saw the plane going over?!

They dont look too pleased regardless :p

I'd say it was Fake & something to do with getting Funding or saving the land from corporate developers.

OMG UFO....Quick, to the Internet!

Very interesting indeed. I take it a team of researchers will head out to meet them?

After reading the article it would seem not. Uncontacted tribes have no natural defence vs common illnesses like colds, previous attempts to contact tribes like these have seen them all die from basic illnesses :(

It is amazing, although my first thought was that this was faked just for the publicity. Hopefully its not.

Publicity to what end? If genuinely from the government there doesn't seem to be any incentive other than the stated one.

Really interesting, if they really have had no contact with "civilisation" then seeing that plane will either be the beginning of a great myth about skygods or some such, possibly even a shift in their religion (they're all based on nonesense anyway ;) ) or it will be the thin end of the wedge and they'll all be wearing jeans and digital watches in 5 years time. At least it would open up a new market for Michael Jackson where nobody thinks he's a paedo.

you could you imagine being them with bows and arrows and traditional methods. Seeing an aeroplane. It must have looked like aliens or some sort of God.

t is fascinating stuff and if contact is ever made every last thing they do should be detailed and stored in a museum. At least that way all there knowledge wont be lost for ever.

The Brazilian government is keen to avoid this, as it's happened in the past and the researchers have introduced germs which, whilst not affecting us, the tribes do not have immune systems to cope with.

It is fascinating.

Uttery irresponsible thing for them to have done, they have no idea how their flyover will affect the tribes future actions from here on in and as such they may very well have forever changed the course of it's ultimate demise.

They should send a biohazard equipped team in with full chemical suits....that would freak them out and they would think we are truley gods :D

We Joke about it, but no doubt that's what aliens would do if they came here!

"Hey, lets go freak out those humans again... fly over that pyramid thing over there while I hop out in my space suit" :p

Probably not. Anthropologists love to find new tribes and learn about them but now it is looked down upon. It is the equivalent of if an Alien came to us and chatted with us to try and learn about us. We would be so fascinated with this other race of people, this other world, that we would leave our heritage behind to seek it out.

Such tribes are best left untainted. We should just go to their old abandoned villages and see what we can learn. Maybe more flybys.

If you REALLY want them to think your a god, take a lighter with you and just turn it on :D

I vote that we have secret camera's, I mean then we can get another reality TV series this summer other than big bother and D list celebrity get me out of here.

hmmm, I think we should send Indiana Jones.

Don't think he'd be up to the job after his latest flick.

I simply meant, will there eventually be a team that gets sent out to research and document their findings. You know what it's like these days, camera crews at the ready, making documentaries.

My question has been answered though^^^. :)
