I've got a corsair rm1000x that I'm using to power a GPU externally to the PSU in the system, the PSU works fine with testing equipment, I've tried to short it by using the pin method and I can get it to turn on and the fan to spin but it seems to turn off shortly after.

Is there a way I can get this to work?

first google link of that issue - That PSU has a semi-fanless mode, meaning that it won't spin the fan unless it's hot enough (under enough load) that it needs to. This makes it quieter, and means the fan lasts longer.
