Hey ok so im on sky broadband and live 1500m away from my exchange according to sam knows. now there is an exhange only 600m away which would according to sam knows the houses down my road are on can get full speed on sky broadband. now my question if i phoned BT or sky or smoone would i be able to swap exchanges to the closer one?

Pretty much not a chance - your houses and others nearby will have been cabled for the old exchange, obviously capacity at some point must have been reached and the new exchange was built with new houses going onto it.

Connecting you to the other exchange would involve cabling from the nearest cab-box on that exchange to the nearest cab box on your exchange and beyond

hmm i dont quite understand , as far as i know most of the houses in my road and the next road on were built at roughly the same time, its weird as it seems half the houses on my road are to the closer exchange and half are to the further exchange :S

There isn't much to understand. You can't change exchange.

It is, of course, possible that Samknows is wrong - having two exchanges within 2km of you would be pretty abnormal...

No lol its not wrong, i got to college which is near my house and i walk past the exchange on the way so i know its there so meh i wish i was on the closer exchange and get full speeeding
