Tried a little case modding...

... and I screwed the LEDs on one of my Enermax cluster fans.

I was planning on having 2 of those fans and extending the wires that had push buttons on to connect it to a front button that turns the stock fans LEDs on and off. I had a little test to check that the solder was decent and one of the wires hit the case and there was a spark. Totally gutted.

Should I bother buying another and trying again? Or just give up?

I don't think it's the LEDs. Theres a tiny scorch mark on the PCB I can see when I take the fan blades off. Unfortunately there's no way to see the other side of the PCB to see if it can be fixed.

ouch, unlucky. they come up quite often in mm, so get your posts up and have a look-see! I warn you though, it's far too easy to buy stuff from there lol

, & make sure the wires are not exposed next time.
