On an old g533 ECS laptop centrino 1.6ghz 1gb ran from cd first to test driver compatability and all was good except 1 epic huge problem

If i run on ac power the thing will go into suspend mode within 20 seconds and basically crash/never come out of it.. epic fail.

The battery is now dead so i cant run it anymore. It will boot onto the desktop but after 20s it goes into sleep mode/failmode.

i edited all the power settings i could find to all on, but that changed nothing.

i have a very limited bios there is 1 option to turn on or off advanced power saving.

im guessing that its missed a driver while installing? or its a mix of trial and error until its on off or however it was installed. flat battery now so screwed, should probably just get a new netbook and take some pleasure from smashing the damn thing to death

Ive had a google and there is a heck of a lot about this and/or similar issues with some laptops. Im a novice at Linux im not sure i can be arsed to even have a play at this as its a lot of hard work and incredibly "have a play" as you suggested.

I tired the 10.4 version as i read that was stable but it wouldnt even run from CD :( thats finally pushed me over the "cant be arsed" boundary
