OK, so its been 10 years since my maths A level, but I am struggling with the definition of the following term.

If vers θ = 1 - cos θ

What is vers^2 θ ?

I did maths a level a couple of years ago, and this looks to be to do with the trigonometric identities, but we didn't touch on versines etc so I don't think I can be of any help, sorry. Good luck!

I think it's theta, though I can't remember how it's used, I'm far too dumb these days, not that I was ever that smart.

Yes, it's theta. It's just a (greek) letter so represents a variable. Theta is conventionally used as a variable for an angle.
