With ram prices being quite low, I am considering filling up the ram slots on my x58 system, i'm having problems finding concrete information about how the slots can be filled while keeping triple channel active.

Everywhere I look seems to say that triple channel requires multiples of 3 (ie 3 or 6 sticks of 1/2/4GB) which isn't true since my system current has triple channel active on all sticks with 4x 2GB (using slots 1/2/4/6).

If I fill the remaining 2 slots with 2GB sticks then it will definitely work, but what about using 2x4GB sticks along with 4x2GB sticks?

Is there any information on how triple channel (and even dual channel) copes when using mixed ram sizes?

That isn't true because it's impossible.

What is the odd stick running in triple channel mode with?
