Hi Folks,

I need to pick brain cell or 2 on ram.

I have now, nicely long in the tooth i7 920 with 6gb of ddr3 triple channel ram. (spec in signature) I am increasingly finding I need more ram, but the world has moved and I can no longer just order another 6gb.

The ram I am using is
Corsair (TR3X6G1600C8D) 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz XMS3

The pc is overclocked and I ideally I really would like to match the ram. is this going to be possible? What are my options? Any thoughts?

Do I need to seek out something 2nd hand?

Was in the exact same spot last year, ended up ordering 3x4GB sticks of a competitor because ocuk didn't stock it, nor did anywhere else weirdly enough.

I've heard they don't need to be identical, just matching MHz and timings, but i'd double check with someone though.

My self I just went for a dual channel 8GB set and gave up the extra benifits that triple channel gives, in most uses you'll never notice the difference.

Just for reference, I recently bought a bundle via the MM where one stick of memory has different timings but the same MHz rating as the other two, and it works perfectly.
