Right, if i got 3 identical monitors, can i run them all without having to purchase 'triplehead2go'.

I have a mATX motherboard at the moment, it doesn't have SLI or crossfire support, but would i be able to get a cheap £20 pci (not pci-e) gfx card, and use that to power the 3rd monitor, but have all the rendering done on my graphics card?

Yes you can use two graphics cards (either both ati or both nvidia) and run three monitors off them.

If you want to game, you need to use softtth which is a free software package, but it doesn't work with all games.

You don't need crossfire or sli to run three monitors over two cards.

edit: oops that thread wasn't the one I thought that it was, one sec

You can run two cards from the same manufacturer separately (not crossfire or sli) all you need are two free pci-e slots. Things are easier if they are around the same age, as drivers don't always support all cards (older cards won't be supported by the latest drivers) If you want to game on only one monitor, it's best to have the monitor on which you game plugged into the best graphics card, as that will give best performance. if you want to triple monitor game, then you need to use softtth (or TH2G)

As for using onboard graphics and another card for extra monitors, I don't know, but I imagine that you can add a card for extra monitors. What onboard graphics chip do you have?
