Kind of looking for reassurance this will work. I have a GTX 460 (2 x DVI ports) which I used for 1) Main monitor. 2) My television as the second display.

I now want to use two monitors next to each other and the television as a third monitor. But the only 2 DVI connections are used.

Hardware I have
- Motherboard is an Asus Striker extreme - 2 PCI-E x16 slots and one x4 I think.
- Pair of old 6800LE graphics cards with VGA/DVI output
- Old 8800GT which I upgraded from (runs very hot).

Can I throw one of the old cards in without driver conflict issues and use it to feed the television exclusively?

You should be able to use the 8800GT provided that you have the power connector needed. I don't know why yours runs hot, they are not known for it, but it won't be doing anything taxing so shouldn't get hot.

I should be able to find that power connector but it's worth noting the 6800 LE card has no requirement for an extra power connector and would be less hassle. Is there any reason you recommended the 8800GT over the 6800 LE for this application?

Which drivers are you using?

I recommended the 8 series because I thought it likely to be compatible with your drivers, whereas the 6 series is less likely. Look at the info on your drivers and see which cards they are compatible with.

It doesn't matter if drivers are compatible because you just install the drivers for both your 460 and the drivers for the 6800. They'll work perfectly well together. For a while I even used a gtx 280 with an ATI x600 for monitor 3 without any issues arising.
