I am considering getting two new monitors and would appreciate some advice on which monitors to buy and how to set them up.

I currently have:

Z77X-UD3H motherboard
MSI 7950 twin frozr card
DGM 27" wide screen monitor

I am looking at 24" screens as 3 27" would take up too much room. I am considering:

I would probably not use them for triple screen play but just to have different apps open on each screen. I assume I would need another graphics card to fully utilise triple screen play?

As long as you use digital outputs (DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort) there shouldn't be any difference in quality.

You can actually run three screens from the HD 7950 as long as one of them is using DisplayPort - I believe the DGM has that as does the Dell monitor you linked to.

Eyefinity now supports mixed resolution monitors but I don't know if this is just for the latests cards or older ones like yours.

Another consideration is how well a single HD 7950 will perform at high resolutions across three monitors.

Perhaps you should ask about those last two points in the graphics card section of the forum.

Thanks DJ Bucho - I am leaning towards the Dell too; mainly because I have used Dell monitors in the past and never had any issues.

I've used Dells both at work and home for a number of years, and they really are great monitors. I've never once had a problem with them, and am actually looking at buying 3 Dell monitors for a triple screen setup myself, as soon as I save enough money that is :(

Could it be worth considering selling your existing monitor and buying this?

It has excellent reviews across the internet and produces an outstanding picture!

That's got to be a joke?! Have you read the thread here at ocuk? No end of problems and absolutely terrible support from LG.

I have 3 of the Asus monitors you have listed and they are fantastic nice narrow edges, sharp and good colours OC price matched mine as I got them all at the same time with a triple monitor stand. I am running at 5760 x 1080.

I work from home using my corporate laptop with three screens. It's not for playing games so the laptop dock plus usb3 DVI adaptor works fine.

My three screens are a mix of sizes like you are considering. I have a 24 inch 1920x1024 in the centre plus two 19 inch 1280x1024 screens either side. The screens are all almost identical heights and look fine, but it's the varying pixel pitch that I dislike. So I can't really spread a window across two screens, even though the bezels are pretty thin.

Another issue is the varying colour response of screens from different manufacturers and different technologies. Given the funds I would change them all for three new identical screens, but today's 16x9 screens are ok for watching DVD's, but just not tall enough for real work!:D
