Triple monitor setup

Hey guys,

I've got £700 to spend on a triple monitor setup.
Currently, I am using a SyncMaster SA550 (Samsung) 27". Which has served it's purpose very well, however. I am finding that I need a little more space for both my programming needs as well as immersive needs for gaming.

What with my new Titan on the way. I figured I would make good use of the 6GB that it comes with, but have been struggling to find a decent set of monitors.

I was thinking Asus VE247H 24" - or would that be a step back from the current samsung, real estate wise?

Regards,

Mike

Edit: Or should I go with a single 29" monitor?

I had a triple monitor setup previously (1x24" and 2x20") but found that I didn't really ever really need the 3 monitors for productivity and because they were different sizes surround gaming wasn't really an option. I ended up removing one of the 20" monitors so it's currently just a dual screen setup with the 24" for gaming and the 20" as an alternative display for movies/docs/etc.

Personally I'm planning on going with a hi-res single monitor to replace my existing dual setup. Currently trying to decide between a 29" 21:9 display like the Dell U2913WM or a 27" 2560x1440 QHD model like a Dell U2713HM. Multi-monitor setups are too much hassle IMO and I think having a bezel between them really spoils the look for surround gaming.

Hrm, very good point. That's the only hesitation I've been having, regarding the bezel. Ideally from a coding point of view I would definitely benefit from a dual monitor - but the hassle of having to leave on monitor in 2D and another in 3D while gaming could get irksome... might have to do a little thinking before splashing the cash. Thanks!

I currently have 3 monitors 2 x 22" and 1 x 20" I'm just about to replace them with 3 x 24" screens ( the very one you have listed ), as for managing the setup just create profiles and switch as needed.

I run a single 24" monitor thats 120Hz at 1080p and I find it beautiful. I've always found anything over 2 monitors when I'm coding just confuses me and having 2 monitors horizontally is a lot of space imo. (when you're talking about 24" x2 or bigger) I'm guessing you're going to have them in landscape and not portrait? xD

programming needs Vertical res, Unless your looking to get a 1600p Monitor i wouldn't bother :P

Unless your using C++ and have all your classes in separate files for viewing in VS then more Horizontal res is ok...

When im in the middle of some C++ work i turn my 1600p hazro on its side, the massive 2560 res helps a lot.

I think I'm a bit overkill, at work I have portrait 3 x 24", 1 screen for the coding, 1 screen for the database and terminal and the final screen for preview browsers. It just stops me having to flick through everything. Vertical height is a must for me haha!

Shame, I only use a single 27 at home which is proving to be tiresome when programming and switching between IDE, Terminal, Db, etc.

1920 is small :P

aha 1920 is more than enough for me. I tend not to have fat classes. The longest class in my current assignment is about 600 lines of code. Anything I can is seperated as much as possible into it's own cpp/header file. Albeit it is just a small OpenGl game, but still :p
