Triple Monitors ?

Hey there Overclockers, this is my first post here although i often browse a lot. :)
I have a bit of a question which im finding it a little hard to figure out for myself.
Concerning a triple monitor set up for a gamer.
Right now, im using a 22" Widescreen HDMI monitor.
It works very well and until recently i've been very happy with it.
Im fairly hardcore on my games and like them to look as good as possible.

I've started playing Aion: Tower of Eternity. My god, the visuals on this game are amazing and the sheer scale of it cannot be picked up by a single monitor. I cant shake the feeling of looking through a keyhole when im using this one monitor. There is so much to see and appreciate but it all gets lost through the limitations of a single screen.

So my question is, how do i go about getting a three monitor setup without busting the bankers balls ?

Is it possible to keep my 22" as a central screen and put to smaller monitors on each side ?
Im using an BFG GTX, My PC is SLI compatible but i'd rather not buy another GTX if i could avoid it.

So yeah any tips and knowledge would be most welcome.

Thanks for you're time.

Xiu :)

It depends how the game supports it. FPS games themselves do not do well at multiple screens. I don't know about AION, but sup-com itself uses as many as you want. You can get 2 screens off one card (assuming it has 2 connectors on the back) easily enough.

Considering that a Matrox TripleHead2Go costs more than £200 anyway, its cheaper to buy a second card. Im pretty sure it doesnt even have to be the same one when using the indepepndatly.

Here's mine.

It's 3 x 19" Hyundai B91D's + analog Triplehead2go. The 26" is in the second output on the 8800 GTX. The game is Crysis Warhead at 3840 x 1024 Most of the Graphics set to Gamer

sorry to barge in.....

ive got 2 30" and a 8800 sli setup but i have looked everywhere to enable games to play on both screens and never found any.

is it a feature you can only use with a matrox??? or am i missing something

sorry to barge in too but ive been wondering for a while (not really 3 monitor question) but if your playing a game and another monitor is surfing the net/irc etc - is there an easy way to quickly swap between the two? (i.e. stop using the mouse with the game and use it to click a link on the web browser?)

sorry to barge in (;))

whilst the topic has come up.

if you are not gaming on the three monitors is there any advantage to a matrox triple head, or would one card with two outputs (like i have now) and a second card ( for the 3rd monitor) be the same ?

thanks

Not sure want 3 screen without Matrox would do. I just pause game. Switch to windows then use internet screen. Then click on game button on start bar. Then unpause game.

I use triple monitors (22" widescreen centre, 19" 4x3 either side) and SoftTH. Main card is a GTX 260 running the main central and left monitor, and a 9500GT running the right monitor.

SoftTH brilliantly with games that support it, racing sims in particular are awesome

If your going to be using monitors of different resolutions and want 2 screens then SofthTH (free!)is the only way to go. You'll need to find out if someones done a patch for your game to work with SoftTh first. You need 2 DX9 compatible Graphics card bit only the main one does the work, the second which can be any old card just donates its DVI port for the third monitor.

Matrox TripleHead has much better games support and there isnt the FPS hit you get with SoftTH but the max supported resolution is 1680x1050x3 and you need 1 graphic card (SLi optional).
