Hello Chaps.

Just seeking a quick bit of advice here. I'm looking forward to get an upgrade to the 7 series from ATI when it launches from my trusty 5970.

I intend to be running an overclocked CPU and I will not be watercooling the mobo anymore as per the overclocking stickies.

Now assuming that i'm going to buy the equivalent of 2 6970's, would a triple rad be ample enough to cool the overclocked CPU And the double 6970's? I'm not bothered with clocking the cards. Maybe a little for fun but not by much. My current set up (even with cooling the MObo) cools my system very well. 35 Degree's on Idle with the card and maybe about 35-40 on the CPU (if my memory serves me correctly).

Your Advice would be most apprieciated.

kind regards,
Sam

One rad would probably suffice, but might not be that great(hard to say as the cards aren't out yet), more rads is better, could you also put a single on the back of your case maybe?

Heya! Its the Thermochill one. Rich spec'd it out and the temperatures i'm getting on my clocked stuff is very good. Hmm.. another 120.1 on the back you reckon?

Better to have more rads than not enough :p

That said I have just always worked it out as 120 per part. So 120 for cpu, 120 for one gfx card, 120 for 2nd gfx card = 360 :D

a triple will probably be fine tbh

another on the back couldnt hurt but it is difficult to say without knowing the heat that the new cards are going to produce

Yep, that thermochill will certainly be enough on its own for pretty decent temps....

But if it's worth doing, it's worth over doing.

I'm in the same boat as you with a WC'd 5970 but will probably hold out to see what the 7990 brings to the table. I prefer having one water block. Yes, I am lazy.
