Upgraded to a Gigabyte 1070 GTX expecting to be able to run most games in triple screen with max settings and 60fps.

Tried a few games and there doesnt seem to be a massive difference from my old 980 gtx,

- just cause 2 concrete jungle benchmark averages @ 58fps (was 53 on my 980)
- Just cause 3 i have to some of the setting turned down and then it flucuates between 55fps and 62fps with plenty of screen tearing
- Dying light i have to turn off a fair few settings like ambient occulusion just to hit 60 fps

Does this sound right? or could there be a problem with my system?

Assuming 1080p that's still a lot of pixels to shift for a 1070, effective resolution 5760 x 1080. It sounds about right to me to be honest.

It's effectively 3k you're trying to push. 3x the pixels of 1080p on a mid-tier graphics card.

I would expect that level of performance.

Just Cause games don't seem to scale massively with faster GPUs - not sure if they are somewhat CPU bound.

I had a GTX780 that was overclocked to around stock GTX980 performance and changing to the GTX1070 saw fairly sizeable jumps in performance in most cases - around +70% through to double the framerate.

If you want to play the latest stuff with most/all settings turned up though the GTX1070 is best suited to 2560x1440 - if you are running a triple screen setup even 1080 vertical you'd need something faster really.
