Tripped Switches - PC Dead?

This afternoon the power trips to my house tripped as I stupidly tried connecting 2 PC's on one extension cable.

One of the PC's turns on fine, the other doesn't want to know (connected at different power sockets now). Have I fried my PSU or something on the one PC or could is be something else (hopefully a little less expensive!)?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

take non working psu out of pc and test with paperclip and fan (google for full details).

use powerlead from other pc to see if fuse broke?

not to sound really patronising, but have you checked the fuses?

Had the electricity go on me many a time (damn credit meter) , but has never borked any hardware before.

It once went installing vista, and i was suprised to see the install carry on when the power came back on.

I have tried swapping the 'kettle' cable over from an older PC, I haven't checked directly with the fuses. I reckon it's worth swapping the fuses out of the original cable and seeing if it works then.

I'm not quite sure why it blew when it did. The PC's had been running side by side for at least and hour and a half before it tripped. They weren't in use or running anything major, just copying files across.

Just hope the PSU hasn't died, could do without the expense!
