Hi all,

Thought I'd see how other people feel about these. How much of a Trophy Whore are you?

I'd never really paid much attention to them when gaming on PC, and it'd not bother me if I was only 1 trophy away from 100% on a game's Steam Achievement list (One of my games has been 1 off for a few years now, can't be bothered to do it!).

Taking the plunge into console gaming seems to have changed this a bit for me now. I'm on my 3rd platinum now, trying to ding my 4th (Heavy Rain). :D I find if I'm playing a game at the same time as a friend I'll get a bit competitive and try to stay ahead of them. :o

I think I draw the line at games like Uncharted where you end up having to play the game a couple of times, usually on a difficulty that is frustrating and generally not fun for me.

Some players have hundreds or even over 1000 Platinums - how on earth did they find the time to do all that!

I dont tend to bother with them much unless its a big campaign style game. I do make an effort to get the collectables though.

yeah i like those collectable achievements in games like far cry, tomb raider etc.

I used to be a big achievement hunter back on the xbox360. Never really felt anything for the ps3/ps4 trophys as they weren't as easily accessible from the interface.

360 you could access them readily and were often used for gloating purposes in the banter of game chat. A thing that seems to have died on most games now due to the predominance of Party Chat.

Its a shame, was awesome making friends with randomers in games such as Cod4/MW2/Rainbow 6 Vegas 1/2 where clans would often be formed of players that shone above the rest or had good banter.

Seems to me the community has died a lot and things are now a lot 'clickier' where unless you're gaming with your actual real world friends no one seems to bother much.

Destiny has shown that it is still possible to make clans over playing games due to the inherent rinse and repeat nature of the bosses on Raids, requiring people to stick in there until it does actually click and no one dies and the boss is defeated. Made lots of random friends on ps4 with the Raiding system in place many from the OcUK forums too.

If party chat was removed how many would game in open chat inspiring people to communicate/banter/rip eachother again or would they switch off mic and mute everyone?

i must be about the only person who does not do party chat

I quite like Party chat because I regularly game with around half a dozen real-life mates. There's too much toxicity and trash talk in a lot of open voice comms games these days and I just can't be bothered putting up with it.

I do miss the old days where there weren't many angry kids and chavs online in all honesty. City of Heroes was the last open (text) chat game I remember where almost everyone was decent.

I used to be but not so anymore. I always hide the trophies from popping up, so even if I get them I don't know about it.

I do sometimes go for Platinum but that depends on the game. If after playing through once I find the game enjoyable enough for another playthrough, then I'll try mop up the remaining trophies, providing I'm not missing that many.

I do wish Sony would allow us to completely disable trophies, or hide trophies from our list that are less than a say 80% complete. Hiding each individual trophy would take forever.

First and foremost, I'm playing the game for the game.
However once I've had a pay through or it's a game that I'm really enjoying I will take the time and trophy hunt. I'm not bothered by the 100% - I've got many games where my trophy tally is between 25% - 50%.
But some games I played so much that getting 100% was always going to happen.

I don't use party chat and I mute everyone if I am able. Notifications always off. Achievements are pretty pointless to me. I don't replay games either. I tend to finish once and sell.

Depends on the game and achievements.

Games like the Batman games (Arkham, Asylum etc) I'll try my best.

I can't be arsed replaying full campaigns though.

Chapter select is an ideal way to get 1000G if available

From 2005 until 2008, on the 360, I'd check the achievements and actively attempt to acquire them. The novelty wore off and now I don't bother with them.

I turned the notifications off on my PS4 as I find the pop ups annoying.

Previously had 360 & xbone and wasn't really bothered about chevos. The odd game I might get loads from just playing and then consciously make an effort to get the last few to max it.

Got the PS4 pro and love it. On my Samsung ks8000 4K tv it looks amazing and out of the 5 games I have on it I've maxed 2 !! Cod mwr and bf1.

Playing on my PC I really don't care about chevos but as previous posts when I see friends have more than me my competitive streak comes out

Slightly off topic but I'm tempted to get the last of us remastered anyone know the cheapest place for digital download??

Also what's the mp side of it like? Any good? Well populated?

Thanks
