I downloaded my ISO from here and have tried using Rufus to create the bootable but drive but it always says 'ISO extraction failed' and the Microsoft tool simply says its not a valid ISO.

I'll try downloading another ISO but if that fails too would anyone know what might be causing the problem?

Thanks

seems like the ISO is corrupt if 2 different programs are having problems? you could try mounting it. windows 8/8.1 can do it without extra software - just double click it. if using 7 or earlier, you can install virtual clone drive.

edit: i forgot 7-zip can open ISO files. presumably winzip/winrar/other dedicated zip progams can too.

Downloaded two other ISO's this time from the MS site and its the same problem. Mounted one with Daemon tools and tried to run setup.exe and get an error that autorun.dll cannot be loaded or is corrupt.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

Tried it on my dads laptop and got the same thing. I've ended up making an ISO from my DVD and that seems to be working fine.

Makes no sense.

thats funny cos i downloaded win7 64bit iso late last night. i spent hours trying to boot up PC. turned out the ISO is CORRUPTED!!!!! do not download from that website.

win7 64 bit iso is 3.1gb but when click download it would say 3.1gb but download stops at 2.5GB.
