Sorry for the wrong forum but I’ve had no luck in the software one.

Installed vista premium on my newly constructed machine and all seemed well – until this evening. I tried to install my X1950 Pro drivers but vista tells me I need to be logged on as an administrator – funny thing is I AM. This is also true for any other software I try to install from disc.

If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear from them.

Thanks in advance.

I've tried install as admin --- same result. I just cant figure. very depressed i was hoping to be emerged in WOW by now -- my wife even went out for the evening!!!

hey hum....

UAC? I'm beginning to feel like it was a mistake going for VISTA but i would like assurance that its not my inability to connect a few wires to a PCB --- to surround sound is pretty good though -- louder than my stereo!!

will OC.com swap th os for XP media centre?

Turned OFF UAC but I'm still experiencing the same issues. Vista will not allow any program software to be installed unless it recognises an administrator account.

the problem is getting online with that PC as Vista wont allow me to install my modem drivers.

can you do a full uninstall and replace it with XP Media Centre?

I can do that but it still doesnt like other software from any CD source. I tried to install Music Maker and it went through fine but when I tried running it a message from VISTA security told me that because an ADMIN did not install the program it will not run and then it closes the application.

UAC is switched off and was at the time of install - I've searched a few sites and this seems to be an issue but I have still not found a fix.

In my meagre opinion Vista is not WOW.
