Evening all, I am trying to install Linux Ultimate Edition 3.4 as a dual boot alongside my Windows Vista, but having an issue.

When I insert the CD, it says to try or install, so select install and get the following:

- Erase Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and reinstall
- Erase everything and re-install (this will erase my Vista though)
- Something else

Originally the 1st option was to install alongside Vista, which I did, so it is installed somewhere but doesn't give me the option to select it when I turn my PC on, just goes straight in to Windows (??).

If I select 'Something Else' I get the following:

Device: /dev/sda1 which is ntfs format, size 487847 MB with 134198 MB free
Device: /dev/sda2 which is ntfs format, size 11574 MB with 10648 MB free
Device: /dev/sdf1 which is ntfs format, size 286634 MB with 112416 MB free
Device: /dev/sdf6 which is ext4 format, size 204773 MB with 12476 MB free
Device: /dev/sdf5 which is swap format, size 8697 MB with 0 MB free

What ever I select I get:

'No root file system is defined. Please correct this from the partitioning menu.'

I have 2 500GB HDDs, 1 has Vista loaded on it, and the other has all my music, movies, photos etc and dont want to risk losing them.

Any ideas??

Got it working. When I turn my PC on, I select Boot Menu and choose my 2nd HDD and it then gives me the option for Linux :)

Cheers mate
