Trouble Installing PhysX Driver

I just decided to re-install my graphics drivers as I was having an issue that may have been fixed by re-installing.

So I downloaded the latest drivers for my graphics card (GTX 480) from the Nvidia site, un-installed all the drivers currently installed, rebooted, and installed the new drivers.

However, the PhysX driver installation failed for some reason, even though all the other drivers installed fine.

I've tried downloading the PhysX driver separately from Nvidia's site, which is version 9.12.0613, but when I try to install it I get a message saying that it cannot find the 'PhysX_9.12.0209_SystemSoftware.msi', followed by a box to enter the source of the file which when I open up has the 9.12.0213 version file ... So 3 different versions going on right now... :/

So I currently am not sure what's going on.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

After trying again, it seems the installation is looking for my old PhysX driver (I'm guessing this is 9.12.0209) but because I uninstalled the old drivers and then installed the drivers from the whole package (presumably which included 9.12.0213) it put this one into my computer even though it didn't install correctly.

So now I'm trying to install 9.12.0613 and it's looking for the 0209 version to remove, but can't find it as it's been replaced by 0213..

I think.

So what should I do?

When I try re-installing all the drivers from the main driver download, if I've uninstalled everything Nvidia from the Programs and Features menu, all the drivers say None under Current Version, except for PhysX, which says that version 9.12.0209 is still installed.

Am I not supposed to be able to remove the old version, or has something gone wrong when uninstalling it originally, leading to my troubles now?

Try a system restore to when you had your drivers running nicely. Then just download the latest drivers and install. No need to remove older drivers.

If that does not work, roll back your drivers for nvidia also.
