So I've tried installing Windows Xp on a laptop for a friend.
He bought an old laptop off someone with Windows Xp already installed but it had a password so we had to wipe it.
So I deleted the partition. Formatted it and it start installing fine.
I thought it was done but then once loading up the laptop it went to a blank screen before asking me to fill in Name, password etc.
So I had to start again, this time I filled it all in and left it while I went to work.
Now he's told me it still isn't working. During one installation it went to some blue screen that I forgot to take a picture of as well.
Any ideas?

Try setting the IDE controller to something other than ahci... Does not sound like the issue as you get to th eusername/password..

Should have used a util to removed the password a 10 min job!!!

Does safe mode work?

How do I do that? Sorry not good with this stuff.
Use to my basic windows 7 installation. It's saying that there is no OS installed basically.
Was in a rush to work so had to leave him to finish the installation.
I have a problem though it's a RM laptop (very old). F12 enters to choose from boot device but there is no button to access the bios. :S.

usually delete, esc or f1 will get you into bios.

in future, a program like Ophcrack (google it) will find the password for you.
