Trouble installing XBMCbuntu

As title I have latest 11 version on a usb drive, trying to install it but wont, just boots into what I assume is the 'try without install' option, used unetbootin to make the disk, it gives the option to install at the start but just doesnt

scratch that i cant install any linux system, ubuntu wont show the hard drive either, its an MSI 7698

hmm any ideas people ? installed windows just fine, but linux just wont install, it always says there is no hard drive present so cant format it ?

if it gives you output such as /dev/sda /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 /dev/sdb /dev/sdb1 then try the command
sudo hdparm -I /dev/sda
but substituting sdb or sdc depending on what you got from the first command

ok will try these later, tried noapic and still no drives were seen by the installer.
