Hi I have an Asus EEE PC with a corrupt version of XP. I have downloaded wintoflash and made an XP SP3 USB version, it boots to the setup but only seems to see the USB device to install windows to, it does no see the HDD. I have tried numerous times to no avail. Set SATA to IDE.

I am at a loss here

It has a COE of XP SP3 Which I can use. Not really fussed what OS it has on it.

How do I go about getting the drivers on the XP setup?

How and where would I put them on the USB? Sorry to sound daft but I have never had to put sata drivers within a Windows setup directory.

Thank you for the help too :)

I'm looking to do the same thing: clean install Windows XP on my EEE PC. I downloaded wintoflash but can't work out how I create the Windows boot on an external HDD. How did you do it?

Personally I would have put w8rp on first, see if you get any probs, use upgrade assistant to purchase w8pro upgrade which will also check compatibility issues first before buying the upgrade. Also use the version of w8rp that you want the final w8pro upgrade in, i.e. 32bit or 64bit as you can make your upgrade media whilst still using rp.

If you need to recreate an xp install disc with added drivers / sp3 etc then 'nlite' is useful, lifehacker has a how-to if you google it.

Thanks for the tip, but it seems nlite only creates an installation disc. The netbook in question doesn't have a CD Drive, however my desktop does. Could I perhaps download XP from the net onto my desktop, burn it to USB and then simply use that to clean install XP onto my netbook, using the key that I currently have on the netbook?
