trying to get a decent overclock with a e6600 and striker extreme1 board with newest 1901 bios
ok i have searched the forum and there has been loads of posts about the combonation i have, even the settings you need to achieve the overclock i am trying for, problem is my chip just does not seem capable of doing it. I have spent hours finely tuning everything using the setting mentioned in this forum but my cpu is not stable above 3.2ghz and will not boot above3.3ghz. i have set the multiplier down to 8x to check if its the mb restricting me but its not as it hits 1600fsb easily and pc is totally stable running it at that and 8x multiplier to reach the 3.2ghz i currently have. I have read up about the chip i have and it should reach 3.6ghz on air. I am using a zalman 9700 cpu cooler. Could anyone help me to find where i am going wrong or give me any advice if you have owned this combo and hit the same cpu barrier. Thanks

firstly youll need to post your full system specs incl all your crrent bios settings (screenies will do)
Then ppl can try and help, but you have to be aware you may be at the limit of your chip, particuarly if its an older one, just because someone gets X out of theirs doesnt mean you will, even with identical setups, each chip is individual

i was thinking it might be that is the limit of the chip but have looked up the batch number on the box and people are saying it hits 3.6ghz easily.
MB-striker extreme 680i
cpu e6600
RAM-ocz pc 8500
psu-700w jeantech
zalman 9700 cpu cooler

settings are-
fsb frequency 1600
ram- linked 800mhz
mem timings 5.5.5.15
voltages-
ram-2.3
cpu-1.465, shows in windows as cpu-z shows it at 1.36 though which is weird

how much RAM? and what combination of sticks? also whats your nb voltage?
your cpu voltage is already at its high limit so dont increase that any more, reason it shows up less in windows than bios is combinations of vdrop/vdroop - read the stickies for more info on each.
So what happens when you try raising the multi back up? try it .5 each time and see if it holds stability

NB is 1.35, i have two sticks of ram 1gb each. my multiplier only goes in 1x steps, so when i put it up to 9x for 3.6ghz it will not boot at all, when i have multiplier at 9x and fsb at 1520 to get it to 3.4ghz it will not boot vista
