Trouble powering PC on

I have a roughly 6 month old build which has developed an issue suddenly whereby the power button seems to just not respond. The MB lights are all on but it outright fails to boot. Obviously my first thought was a faulty power button but it seems that after turning the PSU off, waiting a few seconds and flipping it on the system then seems to power. Once the system is on its absolutely fine till it is turned off again.

This is an OC pre-build but ideally I'd like to get a leg up before I phone them for a replacement on what it might be. Leaning towards the power supply but wondering if anyone else has seen this issue?

Does the power switch still work when held down until the computer turns off?

Your motherboard is going into standby - check the BIOS for power-on actions when power is re-connected.

It does yep, Im properly shutting down.

It just has an issue powering from cold boot. Occasionally it seems to work after a few presses.

Very odd

I have seen this on a previous build with a failing power supply (usually capacitors)you discharge them and power it back up and it starts fine, but cold boot ....nogo, what power supply is it?

Well OC sent me a new one and, touch wood it seems to have resolved the cold boot issue. Thanks for the input!

Lets hope that has sorted it out, Its pretty uncommon for highend power supplies to fail like that but it can happen. I still have an old corsair hx620 psu its years old and still rock solid! luck of the draw i guess.
