Although my laptop will see the media card in Blackberrys, and it'll prompt for mass storage mode on the device, then ask me for the device password on the laptop, having assinged the media card a drive letter it then won't allow me to browse it saying "The request could not be completed because of an I/O device error."

I've tried a few devices and they all have the same error, and all these devices can be browsed successfully on other machines.

There are no errors showing in device manager, the media card is showing as a removable storage device with no errors against it. Disk Management shows the size of the card and how much free space it has, and I've tried it in all available USB ports (which work fine with other devices plugged in).

Help!

Have you installed the Blackberry Desktop software? That might help.

Other than that I can't think of anything obvious.

This is now happening with USB flash drives too... any ideas? It's obviously a Windows problem. Shall I try uninstalling the USB stuff from Device Manager and letting it reinstall?

MY USB mouse works fine, and I've successfully burned a DVD using an external DVD writer.

Reinstall motherboard drivers (latest versions) ensure USB is setup okay in the BIOS and erm flash the BIOS if it's still not working is what I'd do.
