Hey Y'all. Spec is in my sig, just reinstalled Windows 7 with a full HDD wipe, and I'm getting random freezes still, although less often.

Just wondering how to trouble shoot it really? I've tested all the hardware as much as I can, it's all on stock settings etc.

Trouble is it's so infrequent that if it's a hardware thing, I can't really test it by borrowing a mates kit, because no-one I know has a similar spec and also it'd need testing for a few days with each change.

I was having an issue with my Dual Boot setup I was running before, (32bit XP and 64bit W7), in that often when booting up, I just got black screens and had to reset the CMOS to get it going again. Since I reinstalled W7 on it's own this issue dissappeared, until earlier today that is. I froze up, hit the reset button and I just got black screens, turned it off with the power switch and turned it back on, and it booted fine...

Any ideas? I'm guessing it could be motherboard related. The only thing I have tested was the GPU as I have a 4670 aswell, and the issue was there with both.

In my experience problems like this are almost always memory related :/
Does event viewer give any indication of the cause?

It says under Critical "Kernel-Power" apparantly all that means though is that the system rebooted without cleanly shutting down.

It's just done it again now with the same symptoms, it freezes, I turn it off then back on again, the screens stay blank, then off and on again and it boots.

EDIT: The only system change has been upgrading from the 10.2 ATI drivers to 10.5. Think I might try going back to 10.2 just so everything is the same as it has been for the last week or so....

I blame windows. As a close second, I blame your ram. Without further testing (intel burn test & memtest are the obvious two), it's hard to say which.
