trouble with belkin adapter

hi

i have just had to do a clean install on my hard drive

i cannot get my network adapter to work

when plugging it in it says it is only usb 1.0
it says there are no hi speed usb on computer
do i have to install chipset drivers?

Yes. Visit your manufacturers website and get the latest chipset drivers.

i have got the latest chipset drivers how do i install they are in .rar format

You will need WinRAR or WinACE or similar. Its a zipped file format similar to zip.

i have downloaded WINRAR thanks
chipset drivers now installed ok
still cant get the belkin adapter to work
i have downloaded the software from belkin website
it installs ok until it asks to put adapter in USB then nothing happens
no drivers get installed
can someone direct me to just the driver and not the software

With Belkin hardware there is no such thing as just a driver, it's packaged with software so when you install the software the driver is included in the package. (C:\Program files\Belkin\)

bought another one different make, installed no probs
