Trouble with PSU

Hi

I wonder if anyone can give me any advice. My daughter decided to clean out the dust from her PC. She only removed the side panel and used a very soft artists brush (everything was disconnected from the electricity). When she thought she had removed sufficient "fluff" to allow the fans to work again, we plugged it back in. It now boots the PC from the on switch at the back on the PSU instead of allowing you to press the usual on button at the back. There is also nothing on the screen although all the fans etc.. are going round. Could there be some dust or fluff somewhere causing this? Thank you, Sue

Not the best method to remove dust from the inside of the PC case, especially with its disconnected from the wall socket as this provides a ground for any static built up from using the brush (thats if it builds any up).

Does the computer have a graphics card that you could try to remove and slot back in again? Not sure why its booting up from the PSU switch rather than the front panel's on button though.

I recommmend simply unpluging each cable one at a time then re plugging it back in to make sure nothing has been unseated. Do the same with the RAM and the graphics card if it has one as fobose said above. Check that the front pannel cables are plugged in to the motherboard front pannel pins correctly, as they could easily get knocked out of place if cleaning with a brush. Also check to see if any jumpers on the motherboard have been knocked out of place, you might see it lying at the bottom of the case if it has been fully knocked out of place.
