trouble with toggle switches

Hi all

i am trying to wire a led toggle switch to the cathodes inside my pc but i cant get it to work. it works when i only use the power and acc pin and i don't put the ground in but the led does not work.

when i do put the ground wire on, i split the cathode ground wire and solder the ground to the toggle but it shorts my computer and shuts it down

Please can anyone help?

You have to be clearer about how its wired up.

Yes you need to remember LEDS are diodes that emit light so they need to be wired right way round, they are not bulbs that can be wired any way. Also as they work like a diode they can stop current traveling down the wire if wired wrong to other devices.

sorry, ok i am using the cathode inverter http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CM-003-RV&groupid=701&catid=1428&subcat=1430that comes with the pack as standard and i have chopped the red and yellow wire and put the red wire on the power on the toggle and the yellow on the acc.

when i splice the black wire so i can ground the switch to make the led work it switches my computer off?

i just cant get my head around it?
