Help appreciated.

I'm in the process of a build, and when I start it up I get a CPU_FAN error, the temps climb rapidly and then I shut it down before it goes over 75C

The Mobo is Asus X99 Deluxe.

The CPU_FAN header works as it will drive any fans if plugged directly, and the SATA power to the pump is working as it drives a BluRay drive.

Does anyone have any hints/tips before I throw it back and try something else

thanks

Can you hear the pump at startup? If the pump isn't running, and therefore the CPU_FAN header isn't getting an RPM reading, that explains the error.

I imagine the pump should run without any connection other than SATA power, what happens if you just plug that in?

Rapidly rising temperatures sounds like no pump activity - does one pipe get hotter than the other?

The fans don't run unless they 're connected to the cpu_fan and opt_fan headers. When they're set up as per instructions, they don't spin at all

I cant hear the pump, the temp rises 25 degrees in a minute or two

I've not noticed a difference in temperature between the pipes yet

Tried with just the SATA power connected - same result. I think it needs to be back in the box and sent back
