Troubleshooting a troublesome computer

hi all,
I’m having some issues with my computer. It’s been fine up until the past few days whereby it will randomly freeze and everything becomes unresponsive (no mouse, c atl del) so I have to hard reset every time. It will sometimes freeze on boot up or after 10 minutes of use. Temperatures are fine and it doesn’t look like it’s because of an overload. The problem seems to have started since I installed a Samsung Evo 850 SSD as the boot drive (I have tried installing the os back onto my main 2TB and the problem still persists.

I have tried a different GPU which makes no difference as well as a new psu which makes no difference.

I tried 16GB of known working ram and didn’t seem to have any issues with it.

I reset the bios and cmos yesterday around 10am ish and it was still working up until I shut down around 11pm and it was fine since 10am this morning until it froze up at 1pm.

The system itself is an hp 500-250ea
i5 4440
8gb ddr3
2tb HDD all as standard.

I have installed a 1050ti and the Samsung SSD.

At this point I’m suspecting either the ram or motherboard are possibly at fault. Or perhaps my usb boot device is dodgy?

Any suggestions?
