Hi All – would appreciate any tips if anyone has ideas:

I RMAd a nv770 with Gigabyte that was fine for a week or so but now my PC is refusing to POST with this in (again). I’ve put my old AMD5850 back in and it's fine.

- What are the chances my motherboard fried the replacement card?
- If I try the 770 in friend’s PC and it works – what’s the first port of call for replacement, PSU or motherboard?

I’m thinking PSU. It’s a Seasonic 600w so a quality PSU, but I have the two 8pin GPU power provided via adapters on two of the Molex outputs. The PSU only has 2x 6pin power provision which is used when I have the 5850 in.

I am a rookie btw. Is it possible to test the PSU - with a PSU tester or a multimeter or have you got a known working PSU you can try?

Main things that are often flaky are PSU, memory and MB.

Sounds like PSU I guess. You could order one, you can never have too many :p

Hi jpod

rookie you may be but also completely right. I tried the card in a mate's PC and it was fine so ordered & swapped a new PSU and it seems to have cured the problem.

An EVGA 650W GS btw, much neater than my previous non-modular spaghetti monster.

Nice sig logo :) Cheers :)
