I have come across a bit of an odd problem with my pc today.
I was in the middle of a game when my pc just froze. ctrl-alt-del did nothing so i just pressed the reset button. On booting up, i got the bios splash screen as usual followed by the Windows 10 loading screen and then both screens go blank! After a few seconds, both of my monitors report a loss of input signal.
I pulled the graphics card out and the pc runs fine using the onboard graphics card but i get the blank screen issue any time i boot while connected to the graphics card. I thought perhaps that the card was faulty, but the blank screen always happens at the Win 10 loading screen. Also i discovered that my primary display appears to have died completely. I had unplugged the power to get better access to my computer and when i plugged it back in again, nothing. No power lights or anything. I rummaged around in my box of cables found an old laptop power supply with the same style plug, running the same voltage and still nothing.
I have tried taking power from different rails on the power supply to connect to the graphics card and also tried using a different slot on the motherboard.
So, the question is...am i looking a failed graphics card due to a faulty power supply on my primary monitor? Seems a little far fetched to me. Maybe a power supply issue?
PC specs are:
i7 4790K
GTX 780Ti
Corsair AX860i
Gigabyte Z97X
