Troubleshooting Apps HTC Desire Z

Just got my first smart phone and have ran into a slight issue with an app.

When I touch the icon to open it makes an attempt then goes back to my home screen. It is the "Talk" app that came on the phone, I am connected via my wireless so that cant be the issue. Also my mate got onto it fine from his HTC so I think it could be something in my settings.

Has anyone had this problem or does someone know an easy fit?

it its something you installed, uninstall then reinstall it

I have this problem once ages ago on my HTC Desire with google talk, only way i found to fix it was to turn the phone off then turn it on again and it worked fine after that.
