Hiya! :)

Thank you for reading, I was not quite sure where to post this, as I have never had this problem before.

I recently build a new system, but it is doing something strange..

When I start the computer up, after a few minutes it will "Freeze". I can still move my mouse around, but cannot interact with programs that are open. This will last a few seconds (half a minute or so), and then will work fine from that point on without any problems at all.

This almost always happens whenever I start the pc up, and every time a few minutes after startup. This is just a one time freeze, after that it will run smoothly without any problems.

I am at a loss as what I should check for. My CPU never goes above 40 when not running games or other heavy programs, and even when gaming I havent seen it go above 50.

Specs:

Cooler Master HAF X Gaming Tower Case - Black
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 750W V2 High Performance Power Supply
OCZ Vertex 3 120GB 2.5" SATA-3 Solid State Hard Drive (x2, one for OS, one for games)
OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 590 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
- CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz @ 4.50GHz Sandybridge CPU
- Motherboard: Asus P8P67 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard ** B3 REVISION **
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
- Cooler: Corsair A50 CPU Cooler
- Artic Silver 5 Thermal Compound

- (Bundled, assembled/configured/cooled etc. and sold as a bundle)

Running it on Windows 7, home premium 64bit.

Startup programs: MSN, Skype, Steam, and uhm, an Asus pc monitor program (came with the hardware).

Have you tried running it at stock speeds to rule out an unstable clock?

You should have a profile saved in the BIOS (check) - so you wont lose your clock settings.

Not yet. I did not want to change anything in the settings as I was told not too by the overclocked package info :P.

I will try that when I get home tonight, and see if that would eliminatae the problem.

They don't want you tinkering in the BIOS - especially if the clock is stable.

As mentioned, double check that they have saved the clocked profile in the BIOS and once established - load optimised defaults (or similar) save and exit and test the rig for while.

If you find that your problem disappears then post your findings here - link - and someone will advise you as to which settings to experiment with etc.
