I had this problem with my iPhone. I have to switch the phone off and switch it back on. It's annoying bug on old firmware. Are you using the latest 4.2.1 ???

Might be worth trying to update the firmware on the router, and also restore the firmware in the iphone. Atleast everything is up to date this way and then try again. Possibly chance that something could be interfearing with the signal. Try a different channel on the router.

No new firmware available for this router. Changed the channel. If it happens again then I'll restore the firmware.

Had this with old netgear router, had to set the static ip. Annoying

I had this with my iPhone. Then after a few months the Wifi stopped working completely. It's the original 3G and may have just been a coincidence though. At the time to get it to work again I had to put in in aeroplane mode for a few seconds and then switch back, took less time than resetting.
