Truecrypt question.

Hey guys,

A friend of mine installed truecrypt on his Dad's laptop last year and now they they've both lost the password...

I know there's no quick/easy way of recovering the password, but is there a way of simply formatting the drive and just starting over? I've never used truecrypt myself, but as far as can remember the login prompt comes up before the disk even boots...

They're not worried about the loss of data, they just want to be able to use the laptop again.

Any thoughts?

From what I can remember though, once you start the computer truecrypt is the first thing that loads, even before the bios screen - could that be right?
