Truecrypt with SD card?

I've had an idea of using a SD card as a sort of off site backup and keeping it in my wallet with me at all times.

Which Truecrypt encryption is best to use? Is the standard AES good enough or shall I pick something else?

Anyone see any problems with the SD card in wallet idea?

lol... AES is massive overkill for any conceivable "normal" use, and even if the CIA or MI5 could break it in a reasonable time (highly doubtful), it would be easier to just inject you with sodium pentathol and have you chattering like a schoolgirl in no time... :D

You can easily store Truecrypt volumes on an SD card, but if you want to access the data on another PC (where Truecrypt isn't installed), you'd need to have the program installed on the card in "traveller" mode - note that it loads a driver, so you'll need admin privileges on the PC concerned. :)

edit: I guess you already know that any encryption algorithm is only as good as the passphrase you use, so make sure you pick a good one... also, if/when quantum computing comes along, all bets are off. :)

yea, i use that with a usb drive at the moment to store all my crucial files.
while it works well, as said earlier, you do need admin rights if not on your own pc
