Right bit of a question...

I have two domains domain1 and domain2 at two different locations, there is contectivity between them, both have replicas of each others dns forward zones and a trust between them.

Now, the problem is accessing data from one domain to another, It can be fixed by adding in the share and NTFS permissions the correct domain and user, but if you have a lot of shares this could prove a long job, now I would have thought that as there is a trust between the domains you could go into AD on one dc and add users from the other domain into groups in your domain. But alas that option is not available to me. So what Im asking is there an easier way?

What you've described should work with being able to add users from one domain into the groups in the other. Thats the whole point of trusts.

Can you enumerate the domain users in the domain or are they not listed? Have you also verified the trust?

The trust is verified, I can see the other domain objects when it comes to setting file permissions, just not in active directory when wanting to add to groups.

strange eh

oops, I forgot about that, I think your're right as the dc's were originally setup with no intersite connection , so I imagine the Group type will be Domain local not Global

Thanks!
