Hello,

I was thinking of swapping my current i3-2120 into my HTPC/Server to replace my current AMD Athlon II x2 240e with HD4200 onboard graphics.

The only thing holding me back is the amount of information on the web relating to Sandy Bridge's inability to handle 23.976 FPS.

When is this likely to affect me - i.e. is it only for Blu-Ray films or HD generally?

Also, is it likely to affect me - I have heard that the slightl mismach causes a judder now and then. Is anyone out there using onboard SB graphics to watch video and actually noticed this jolt?

Thanks

Hi,

The reason I was thinking of upgrading was that I run Mediaportal off the machine and sometimes things go a bit juddery and I am trying to work out why and if there is a bit of a bottleneck with my current system.

I have lots of RAM, a Hard Drive that should easily deal with recording and playing multiple streams, so I thought it had to be the Processor/Graphics combination.

Do you think that perhaps the problem lies elsewhere?

One other quick question - what exactly is bit streaming?

I run my HTPC through a 5.1 Yamaha amp - is bit streaming something I need to bear in mind?

Thanks
