Ok, so I have an xbox 360, a pc, an a8n sli premium mobo with 2 ethernet ports on it.

One has the connection to my router, the other a crossover cable to my xbox. If I try to enable internet connection sharing on the port that has the router connected it tells me it can't as I already have a lan connection on the network using the IP which is required for automatic IP addressing.

And thats about the point where I run out of ideas because I'm really not big on networking.

Any ideas? I only had this pc and my nas drive attached to the router.

ICS will automatically try to set up a network on the 192.168.1.X subnet. If your other network (Between router and PC) is the same, then it won't work. Have you tried just bridging the 2 network cards (not using ICS)

I haven't tried no, don't know how to but I'm not thick so simplish instructions might get me there.

Confused though as nothing on my network is 192.168.1...

nas is 192.168.0.20 and pc is 192.168.0.4 and the router itself is 192.168.0.1??

The IP of the xbox starts 169 so thats not the problem...

Any other help would be greatly received.

no, the router is just under 10 meters away, I bought a flat ethernet cable and pulled up the carpet to wire the pc to it and even that flat cable was a struggle so another cable isn't going to fit.

I've bought a switch which I should have by the end of the week so hopefully that should make this a lot easier but even so its still frustrating. I also want to know more about networking so any new thing I can do will be great to learn.

Well to bridge two nics in windows XP you just select both in network connection and then right click and select "Bridge Connections"
