Hello all,

I'm feeling the upgrade itch pretty badly and seriously looking to upgrade my single EVGA 780 (reference) to a pair of 970's.
(full rig specs in sig)

- I've been looking at the Palit Jetstream and it seems to have solid performance + overclocking headroom.

- The ASUS Strix is also a contender. I think the Strix does look the best.

I'm looking to order today/tomorrow or the weekend at the very latest.

Hope to avoid the coil whine debacle.

Should I upgrade my PSU too? It's a Corsair TX 750w (approx 6yrs old).

Cheers.

Just be aware that particular GPU is the 2 slot version not the huge 'Herculez iChill' cooler that's also available.

Someone also posted an overheating fix related to the heatsink cover fouling the backplate on that model here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18628996&highlight=inno3d

It's a generally smaller and inferior heatsink design too with no copper (aluminium throughout) and only dual heatpipes so I'd imagine overclocking would be somewhat limited and temps would be higher.

Weighing those two factors up would make me look elsewhere.

As for the PSU yeah the superflower's are really well regarded. That one would be fine I'm sure. :)

Thanks for shedding light on the issues.
Purchasing the Inno3D is now out of the question.

IMHO, no, stick with what you have. The mild whine on my MSI 970 (at high framerates) was no different from a Corsair HX520 to a Corsair RM850.

I would change out a 6 year old PSU personally, just because it's 6 years old.

Hmmm.

I don't know who is right but I am inclined to change it out regardless simply because of its age.
I just wish there was a good way to tell if it actually needs changing.
Better safe than sorry I guess.
