I have a Netgear WGR614 router connected via cable to my xbox 360 and then to my pc via wireless (Netgear WG311 pci card).

I want to be able to play movies and from my pc through my xbox 360 but i cannot work out how to do this. I have successfully connected the pc to the router via a cable and was able to watch content from my pc on my xbox 360. But now that i have the pc wireless it does't work. :(

Do i need to set something else up so the xbox 360 can find the pc?

Can anyone help me out please? Iv spent hours searching through the forums and google but im stumped! :(

Have you set up the PC for File, Folder and Media sharing?.

As far as I can recall, all I did was allow sharing on the above, drop all the movies etc I wanted to share and stream to my 360 from my PC into one folder and then browse for it via the 360.

What operating system is on the PC, im guessing its winxp, i think you need either a media center pc, or win 7. You can install windows media connect i think to get some functionality.

Tbh it should work just like the wired, unless the connection's too weak/bitrate too high e.g. trying to stream hd on g with weak signal. Sounds like a router issue tbh.

The easiest way to stream content from your PC direct through your Xbox 360 to the TV is to use Media Player.

Make sure you have the latest version of Media Player installed. Open it up and go to options and you can set it to stream via your xbox. I cannot remember exactly how to do it as its been a while since I had MP11 but there are tutorials out there. You need to have your codecs installed and your library set for your files.

You do not have to open MP everytime you stream either. I have had no faults with it whatsoever. I used TVersity for a while but found it a little problematic at times.

Edit: Oh, just read that its the wireless causing the issues. You will find streaming over wireless always has its problems unless you move to Draft N which would help a lot more (300mbps as opposed to 54mbps) as you have to take into account bandwidth for background apps, actual signal strength etc....

I have a wireless media streamer that works similar to the XBox. Also had problems getting the wireless working initially. This might be obvious but disable all security/encryption on the wireless to get it working. Most of the times this would be causing your problem. When you get it working you can start enabling it again.
