Ive got a Silverstone case and ATM its crammed to bursting and I feel Im not getting good airflow.
The main culprit for space seems to be the SI-120 and 120mm fan cooling my opty [email protected].
Would running say a 4400 at stock using a passive heatsink give me same /better/worse processing power?

Is your PC actually unstable or is the temp read out just high?

If it's just the latter then I really woulnd't care or bother to rectify anything.

Do you really need that powerful a processor in an HTPC? How much encoding is it doing? I'd bet you could underclock it and still have it working fine.

its not actually doing any encoding, I do that on my main rig.

An HTPC processor can never be too powerful - some of the new codecs will eat that up just to playback.

If you have one of the very few, very expensive graphics cards that fully supports it that is.
