Trying to decide on the right Gigabyte board for my 6600 setup

The Gigabyte GA_P35* range all look really good.

I don't mind paying a bit more for a decent board but if there aren't that many differences between say the Gigabyte GA_P35_DS3R and Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 is it worth it?
 
The DS3P seems to be the best value for money at the moment with Crossfire support, Raid and all the gubbins
 
Having had a G33-S2, a P965-DS3 and a P35-DS3R, the P35 seems just as good and all the review say they as long as you go for the ones with the Ferrite core chokes, Low RDS (on) MOSFET and Solid Capacitors you can't go wrong.

Thing is today the only reason for going for the top of the top is if you are really going to push your overclock hard. Anything under 3.6 is going to be fine with just about any P35 motherboard, you will run into memory and cpu fsb walls before you hit the limits of the motherboard most likely.
 
only difference i can see is the P35-DS3R does not have Crossfire, whereas the DS3P has.
it depends on whether you are hoping to install a second gpu, as other then that i can see no benefit

The DS3P also has Firewire.

Plus it's a full size ATX board compared to the DS3R's cut down size.

Didn't know the DQ6 has 12 phase power. Should be it runs cooler and power will be a lot more stable?

There seems to be plenty of people more knowledgeable than I am who say that the Gigabytes don't use a true 12 phase design but instead parallel 6 phases (the inference being that parallel 6 phase isn't as good as a proper 12 phase).
However, no. of phases alone isn't an indicator of how good the design is but it is good for marketing purposes.
 
WTF LOL I DIDNT KNOW THE DS3P SUPPORTS CROSSFIRE! ...

I just bought a motherboard as I needed one asap. Everyone recomended it, so I bought it :p

Didnt know it had Crossfire support. Awesome! :D
