Trying to decide "WHAT FIRST CAR"

Yeh but thats not the standered Grey.

No, icelandic grey is what I posted.
There isn't a "standard grey" there is a silver, and then a nasty two-tone special edition that was silver with gunmetal grey arches and lower halfs of the doors.

Icelandic Grey and Marautius (navy) Blue are my favourite standard colours. Not common, nice and easy to clean. I wish they did a full gunmetal grey like the bottom half of the two-tone one.I can understand why people wouldn't like my yellow one but hey it stands out :p

100% agree, that would indeed own!

They did but only on mk1's so I don't think you would be interested :p

Nice

Mk1 > Mk2

The Mk1's just look awesome, whereas the Mk2's look girly. Suits you perfectly then El doesn't it ;)

There's a yellow VTR near to where I work which has black Wolfrace wheels with a silver lip. Looks very smart!

GT3: See, give me a MK2 front end and that would own :)

The rear shot of that looks spot on (however rear-side view was always my fav. angle of the car!)

Andy, you can't talk about cars and styling i'm afraid, you own a shoebox.

Agree, hopefully I'm making mine look a little less girly with some of those black headlights and I've just got the grill colour coded (left the slats black).

Shame those wolfrace wheels weigh a tonne and are poor quality. I'm on the lookout for some cheap superleggeras/speedlines to get refurbed in black with a polished lip

My first card was a 1.25 fiesta- Excellent first car, reliable cheap to run and quite comfortable.
My second car was a MG Zr 105+ looked good, very conferrable seats good handling and good fuel affiance. The car was a pile of **** unreliable and expensive to keep running due to all the problems, ugly cheap interior.

Arnt Saxo's overly expensive on insurance though. I remember putting one in for mine when i was looking and it was £4K compared to the £1.5K i paid for my 1.6 GLX Polo

I'm not really that bothered about the insurace but obviosly don't want to pay a stupid amout like £5000 thats why I have choosen these few as the insurace is no higher than £2500 which I don't believe to be that bad, for a nice car..

That would be ok if there were any nice cars in your list but I can see a little Fiesta, a Rover 200 with tat stuck on and different suspension and a Saxo :p

Personally, I'd have the Saxo although the Fiesta is the most suitable first car in that list.

From spending many hours getting quotes online on these types of cars, I've found that a similar aged fiesta 1.25 is only around £200 less than a 1.6 saxo vtr in every single quote.

If it was my own choice i'd definately go for the saxo.

god how i want a VTS :(

but thats irrelevant :D

go for the VTR - dont have to rag it everywhere cos the engine is nice and tourquey at low revs, but when you do :D its pretty quick, doesnt sound too bad either :)

1.6 8v > 1.25 16v ;)

I just bought a Fiesta as my 1st car, sounds very similar to the one you described. I'm really pleased with it, but i don't know much about the others so i can't really comment on them, but the fiesta's are good.

Insurance wise i was told that KAs are the cheapest but they are pretty ugly. (Apologies to anyone who has a KA) :)

ive already been corrected on the engine and he could probably pick up a astra sxi with uprated suspension for around the same price as the saxo

1.6i 16v. maybe not as small as the saxi but its cheaper to buy, cheaper to insure, handles like a car half its size and has a better engine

Handles like a car half its size, are you taking the mick? The Astra handles like.... a middle of the road medium sized hatchback. It has no talent at all outside SRi trim level.

Handles like a car half its size indeed, ahahahahaha.
