Trying to find a builder

What's the best way to find a builder, I've tried using word of mouth but all of them are busy with big projects.

Anyone used Checkatrade or similar?

We have used checkatrade both for a bathroom replacement and now a roof repair.

Has been successful each time and they are so worried about a bad review on there that you tend to not get any chancers.

Depends what you want doing. We did a big renovation project recently and called a few that we could see doing big jobs in the local area.

check if they have valid insurance.

Best way is someone you know or a neighbour, although that's not foolproof as jobs go sideways, builders get the hump and are thinking about the next job that may be less hassle.
