I have decided that although they don't offer the performance delivery I prefer, for the money there is nothing really I have driven that touches them.

If I could find one for the money been looking for ages:

1) Dealer selling a vti 1.8 hatchback. 50k miles £3700 and wouldnt budge.I saw the car before it had been prepared and it was a dog inside and out. Engine was good but rest was pants

2) Local to me a guy is selling his 1.8 vti Aerodeck in the dark red. Done 40,000 miles on an S plate. He wants £3600 for it. I went to see it today and its all mint, genuine full dealer service history.

He hasn't had a single inquiry in several weeks of advertising so I show him the parkers guide and this values it with the mileage at £2700 but it needs new tyres and a cambelt service due to the age (not mileage) so I offer 2400. Which is on book. Guy won't have it.

3) Dealer 58000 miles vtis hatchback in black. Bodywork mings, blue smoke, and wants £4995.

4) A few in auto trader either in aerodeck or hatch guise within 100 ish miles some are priced ok others are way over.

I would have a higher mileage one but I can't find one in good enough condition or for a sensible price 3.5k for ones with 110000 miles on the clock is taking the mick.

Are these really that rare or hard to get hold of. Should I be looking elsewhere than the cars advertising papers?

Dealers think they've got something really special and charge sooo much for them.

You need a private sale. I sold mine this year for 2k, was a P-reg with 86k, Id say the local guy with the Aerodeck is quite a bit overpriced.

They've dropped in value a lot in the last 2 years.

The MB6 arent that rare, the EK9 (3 door 1.6VTi) is rare.

I'd love to pick up a nice 1.8 vti but they all look fairly overpriced and there simply isn't many of them for sale at any time.

Yea, thats what I thought. I have found a few private ones just now but they are 3 hours drive, which I don't mind for the right car but waste if they arn't good.

I sold mine MINT 99 plate 50k on the clock for a staggering £3000  needed a quick sale though , I think you should pop over to hondarevs and take a look on there for private sale ones because you can always search there user name and get a little back ground info on the car aswell

If you can wait a bit I'm sure some decent ones will be on the market for around £2.5k, there are usually some on ebay.

Give it a thorough check over though, and make sure the gearbox oil has been changed at some point because that make it an expensive car.

It's good to get one when its hot as you can check the aircon properly. At this age it probably won't work well on a lot of them.
If you can find a decent one!

I'm going to get rid of mine soon and put the MR2 back on the road. Just need to find some kind of Fox clone who doesn't worry about mileage :D

A Fox clone would whinge about the revvy engine and go and buy an ST24 :p

Don't know much about them tbh, but sounds ok.

Yea but that is still overpriced, I have contacted the guy about it.

I have looked at mondeo st24s and they suck tbh. I have looked at several and not found one in a condition that is worth the money. Worth the extra for a st200 but i dont want to spend more

I'd love to know how you can hold the opinion that an ST200 is worth it but that an ST24 'sucks'.

Both are great, the ST200 is awesome... but if you don't like the ST24 I cannot see what you'd like about the ST200. It is the same car, but with revised suspension, more power and a nicer paint job.

You can't blame the car just becuase you keep looking at examples where the previous owner mistreated it - its not is if you've managed to find a mint VTi at the right price either, is it?

No no dont get me worng its not the car its the fact I can't find any st24s in a condition for a price thats worth entertaining and in my budget. I have seen a couple of very nice st200s but they are circa £4.5k.

I think I am going to try and get the low mileage aerodeck and up my offer a bit. I can live with the cherry red if I slam it on 17/18s. I need the hatch to get the bikes in and (if the wife gets her way a dog)

But from this thread, the same appears to apply equally to the Civic.

Whoa there is no WAY a Mk2 Mondeo should cost you anywhere near £5k! Only ST200's cost that.

Blimey if non ST200 Mondeos were really worth that much for a good one I'd be well chuffed! I doubt my nice V reg one is worth any more than £2k on a good day.
